Everywhere With Wonders

“Outdoors we are confronted everywhere with wonders; we see that the miraculous is not extraordinary but the common mode of existence.”

–Wendell Berry

I’m grateful for nature, for its reliability. All I need to do is get there – and then it works its magic. Unwinding all the tension and anxiety that life slings.

I’m grateful for nature, for its variety. For just when I’ve had enough of the night’s darkness, the sun slips over the horizon, or just when the never-ending heat of summer threatens to steal all the joy I have left inside, the north wind roars.

Yes, I’m grateful for nature, for the way it makes me stop. The way it gets my attention and says look. Be here, right now – with this leaf, with this sunset, with this stream.
